Minneapolis Chimney Cleaning Process Explained

Chimney CleaningA question we hear a lot is can you explain the chimney cleaning process. A lot of Minneapolis homeowners as well as those around the Twin Cities have asked us what is involved and how the process works. So for that reason, we are going to explain in more detail so you will better understand the process of cleaning a chimney. We hope it will help make your decision in hiring the right chimney sweep a little easier.

Our Chimney Cleaners Work in Rain, Sleet, Snow…

First of all we are able to provide chimney cleaning in all kinds of weather including snow, unless there are blizzard conditions which would make it unsafe for our technicians. Every house is different so we may use multiple options of cleaning on each and every home. For the most part we always try to go on the roof if it is accessible, but not all homes are very easy to clean from the roof down, so in most cases we go from the actual fireplace it’s self and work our way up. Whether working from the roof, or through the fireplace, both ways are equally as effective and there is no mess with either method.

Proper Cleaning Involves Professional Equipment

We use only high quality equipment for cleaning chimneys and our technicians are fully certified and trained to do each and every job. If the home is close enough to where we park our van, we use the high pressured truck-mounted vacuum hose. In some cases where the van hose is not able to reach we may have to use our twelve and a half horsepower portable vacuum, which also does a tremendous job.

Remove the Ash, then Brush the Creosote Away

For the actual cleaning we first use a high powered air wand to blow off the soot and ash from the chimney. Then we use a high quality steel brush to thoroughly clean the inside bricks to make sure there is no residue left. Now your home will be fully capable of having a safe and secure fire on a cold winters day!

We hope the information we have given you will help you better understand the techniques we use and the quality that goes into our workmanship, here at http://ductcleaningtwincities.com. We look forward to providing our cleaning services for both your fireplace and furnace chimney. Order chimney cleaning online, or call 612-412-1867 to get on our schedule.

Duct Cleaning Equipment May Reduce Various Health Complications

To keep your home in good shape, one requires taking care of certain elements on daily basis. You need to consider many aspects for keeping the environment in your house healthy. Making use of duct cleaning equipment may reduce allergy symptoms. Making use of professional duct cleaning services in the house is an even better idea, as it may provide clean air for everyone in the house to breath.

Vents can get severely clogged if not cleaned for months and many homes may have furnace and air conditioners that run harder with blocked vents and running such a unit in this condition reduces the lifespan of the unit. Every time, the furnace is turned on, dirt from the vents will blow dirt throughout the house. This may lead to various problems as it relates to the health of those living in that environment. They may suffer from runny nose, sneezing and itchy eyes because of the dust pollen in the home environment. Vents will blow dust in the air if not cleaned on time and people will inhale the same air, as they cannot see the microscopic dirt in the air.

Allergies are often caused due to accumulation of dust, pollen, dust mites, fungi and molds in the air conditioning and heating ducts. Ask any allergist and they will agree that the HVAC system can play a leading role in air quality. Furnace and air conditioner circulate the same pollens that we are trying to get rid of. Duct cleaning equipment may prove to be useful if used for cleaning vents and blowing out dirt on a regular basis and experts agree this may help improve allergy symptoms.

Duct cleaning service providers have large trucks with both air hoses and a large vacuum hose at the back. The workers attach the hose to the furnace and then blow compressed air through each vent, while extracting dirt from the heating and cooling system. This is quite necessary for people, who have pets or smokers in their home. In this situation, the technician may suggest sending a rotating brush through parts of the system. Homeowners can actually see trucks leaving with huge amounts of dust particles after cleaning the vents and will experience fresh air coming out of the air ducts after the central heating system is made free from dust particles. Additionally, homeowners can use high quality furnace filters to trap much of the pollen circulating in the air which is blown throughout the house by air conditioning and furnace fans. Changing these furnace filters regularly is also useful to avoid further health problems.

Air conditioner maintenance with the help of high powered duct cleaning equipment is an excellent plan. You can actually notice a great difference in the quality of air you breathe after the cleaning task is complete. Homeowners may set appointments on regular basis with these service providers after seeing the improvement. Cleaning vents using duct cleaning services may make a difference in air quality and overall household cleanliness. It has been known to help families, who had adults or kids suffering from asthma or other respiratory problems. Air conditioners and furnaces work more efficiently if inspected and cleaned regularly. Using professional duct cleaning equipment or duct services that use trucks with high-powered mounted vacuums, homeowners can successfully eliminate allergen-laded dust and toxins from the ducts.

Twin Cities Air Duct Cleaning Procedure

Duct Cleaning – RotoBrush Method

Price $249.95 Special $189.00

  • Step 1. – Our technicians first attach a high powered vacuum to the main trunk line leading to your furnace.
  • Step 2. – Next, they go to each branch line and use a tool called an air-wand. The air-wand uses highly compressed air to push all the debris down to the main trunk-lines where the vacuum hose is creating negative-pressure to draw all debris to our van mounted equipment.
  • Step 3. – Once they have completed the initial air sweep, an item called a Rotary-Brush with a reverse nozzle will be used. It will be inserted into the trunk line where the brush will rotate inside the air ducts. This rotating brush “scrubs” the walls clean, removing anything that is stuck on, or otherwise attached to the walls of the air ducts. Once the ductwork has been scrubbed clean, they continue on to Step 4 using compressed air to pull the dust and debris that was removed from the side walls of the trunk lines and any other debris which might have been knocked loose with the rotary brush, back out to the vacuum using Step 2 mentioned above.
  • Step 4. – When the technicians have completed the initial air sweep and “RotoBrushing” the walls of the duct work, they will go to the bottom of the furnace with a 25-ft rotary air-wand, also known as an air-snake, with a reverse nozzle. This creates a tornado effect in the duct work, removing all residue from the sides of the air ducts. This will pull any remaining dust and debris back to the vacuum. The vacuum is “pulling” while the air-wand is “pushing” and it does a very effective job on light dust, dirt and debris.

If it has been a while since your air ducts were cleaned, you should definitely consider using the Rotary Brush Method. Unlike many of our competitors, we brush all your air vents and we clean all return lines and supply lines within your household.
