Duct Cleaning and Carpet Cleaning Read this First

July 16th, 2008

We have seen a few carpet cleaning companies start to offer duct cleaning in the Twin Cities over the past few months. Sounds convenient, but is it in your best interest? At first glance, you might think it is a match made in heaven. the company comes out and cleans your carpets and will provide duct cleaning at the same time. Very convenient, right? Maybe not.

Our Air Duct Cleaning Equipment Fills the Service Truck

The first question I have is, knowing how much room our duct cleaning equipment takes up, how will they fit everything on their trucks? The next concern I have is are the carpet cleaners using the same equipment for both projects? If so, what type of system is it? You certainly don’t want water or steam in your metal ductwork!

Carpet Cleaners also Trained to be Duct Cleaning Technicians?

Our air duct cleaning technicians are well trained in cleaning air duct work and have worked along side skilled service technicians for a long time before they are allowed to become the lead duct cleaning technician. Who is training these carpet cleaners and how are they being taught?

Unless you ask a lot of questions, get a referral from a friend or neighbor, I would advise making two seperate appointments. That would hopefully be the case with the carpet/duct cleaning company anyway. I would like to think that they would schedule two different teams, one appointment to clean the carpets, the other to clean your air ducts. If that’s the case you have really gained nothing. Might as well just call the pros. Call 651-653-4704 to get on the schedule

A Clean Air Conditioner Cools Better and Saves Energy

July 12th, 2008

Summer is in full swing and we have now been through our fist heat wave in the greater Twin Cities metro area. Unfortunately, this likely won’t be our last heat wave nor the hottest. A properly working and “well tuned” air conditioner is very important in Minnesota.

So, How Did Your Central Air Conditioning System Keep Up?

When both the humidity and the temps are high, that’s when your central air system gets put to the test. All it takes is for an air conditioner to be low on freon, dirty, froze-up, or malfunctioning in some other way and you quickly start to feel uncomfortable in your house.

As a professional heating and cooling contractor and also an air duct cleaning company, servicing the entire Minneapolis St. Paul area, we often are the first call homeowners make. When the temperatures start to climb and they discover that their air conditioner isn’t working the way it used to our phone starts to ring like crazy. Fortunately, we are prepared and jump into action as quickly as we can.

Are You Sure the Air Conditioner Needs Repair?

Maybe the air conditioner doesn’t need to be repaired after all. Oftentimes, the only problem is the outdoor condensor or the inside evaperator (a.k.a. a-coil) is just dirty and no repair is necessary. If that’s the case, we will clean everything up and be on our way in an hour or less. Cleaning the central air conditioning system and a good old fashioned duct cleaning will typically cost less than $100 unless your system is really dirty. In that case you might want us to use our rotary brush cleaning method and that takes a little longer.

Either way, cleaning your air conditioner and your duct work will cost you a lot less money than jsut letting it go and suffering through it. A dirty air conditioner works MUCH harder than a clean air conditioner. When the central air conditioner is working hard to keep up with the demand you have set on the thermostat you are wasting a lot of energy.

Schedule an Air Conditioner Cleaning Soon.

Rather than suffer and spend a lot of money on increased energy consumption, why not have you an air duct cleaning company come out, like CleanMyFurnace.com for example, :)  and do a complete air duct cleaning. And, if needed, we will clean your a-coil and your condensor. Air conditioning cleaning will generally pay for itself in energy savings, so why put it off?

If you would like to schedule either air conditioner cleaning, air duct cleaning or both, please give us a call at 651-653-4704. Our technicians are fast, efficient, friendly and knowledgeable.

Will Duct Cleaning Help My Allergies?

April 18th, 2008

People oftentimes ask us if duct cleaning will help their allergy problems. Our answer is always the same, ‘It can’t hurt!’. The truth of the matter is, when done correctly, it shouldn’t irritate your allergies. Will it help? Our customers and leading allergists say ‘yes’, air duct cleaning does help. So why don’t we come out and say, “Duct cleaning will help your allergies.”? Well, because an outdated, 10 year old EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) report says duct cleaning won’t help.

Duct Cleaning Techniques Have Greatly Improved

Way back in 1997 the EPA did a study that down played the importance of duct cleaning. Many feel this was due in large part to the “air duct cleaning scams” that were being reported all across the Minneapolis area as well as the entire US. While the report was very thorough, duct cleaning techniques and equipment has changed. “Duct cleaners” were running around in station wagons and mini-vans with a shopvac, calling themselves “Indoor Air Quality Professionals.

Allergists Agree, Duct Cleaning Helps

Allergy sufferers don’t need to travel very far to learn the benefits of air duct cleaning. A short visit with their local allergy clinic and they discover that duct cleaning ranks high on the list of allergy cleaning or allergy proofing a house. They will also learn the importance of things like; like mattress cleaning, freezing pillows, allergy bedding, etc), Most people who suffer from allergies know there is no cure-all which will relieve all their symptoms. They understand that air duct cleaning is just one part of the allergy cleaning process.

Is Duct Cleaning Right in Your Situation?

According to your furnace manufacturer (yes, Trane, Bryant, Amana, Carrier, Lennox… yes, everyone of them!), your furnace should be cleaned and inspected yearly. If the manufacturers all recommend annual cleaning, it stands to reason that your ductwork, which supplies un-filtered air to the furnace and heated or cooled air to your home, should be cleaned too. Most homeowners understand the benefits of duct cleaning, even if purely from a “heating and air conditioning maintenance” standpoint. For about $200 or less, a qualified Twin Cities air duct cleaning company will thoroughly clean all your air duct work and will inspect your furnace and air conditioner for no additional charge! So, if you are troubled by allergies, what do you have to lose? Schedule to have your air ducts cleaned today. Who knows, your allergy problems just might improve!
